Edmund Bickford has wide experience in the legal profession having practised for a number of years in the City of London and the Bailiwick of Jersey, one of the Channel Islands that forms part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and its dependencies.
It was in the field of private client that he was first trained - a specialisation that involved a thorough knowledge of Wills and Trusts, the Granting of Probate and Letters of Administration as well as Capital and Income Taxes.
He moved to Jersey where he continued with this field of expertise developing a detailed understanding of offshore tax-planning with discretionary trusts and other devices as well as broadening his knowledge into property. He also assisted in research that helped in bringing about commercial legislation in the Island.
He then returned to mainland Britain where he continued with Tax-saving schemes for non-domiciliaries coming to live and work in the UK, and gained valuable experience of immigration and the work permit legislation. He then began to gain a Company/Commercial element to his work advising on private company takeovers and joint ventures.
The Company/Commercial work increased and became his main source of work, he having been involved in many sizeable private company takeovers acting for both purchasers and sellers, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, company administrations, taking full part in the tax advice to the client and all related matters
Apart from the above, Edmund Bickford has wide general knowledge of many legal areas resulting from his years in practice including software licensing, copyright and intellectual property, and many other areas of commercial law. He has lectured at the International Business School ( Oxford Brookes University ) in Finance and Offshore Taxation for the BA in the Business Studies and Finance programmes and in Marketing Management, Business Management, Economics, Management and Financial Accounting at St. Stephens University. He has also been a contracts manager for a well-known Clinical Research Organization (CRO), also in Budapest.
